Issue 2 Cover Art

Here is the cover art for issue 2. It's based on a portion of Eric Spitznagel's essay "Four Stories About Death," which is also in issue 2. Sarah Stanley did the artwork and she will be working on the rest of this year's issues as well.

This is a ghost in a bathroom with the lights off.

This is another one Sarah made for issue 2, based loosely on another portion of the same essay. I really like the simplicity and the subtle creepiness of this one. But I felt the ghost better fit the story.

And here's one I made. This is Jon Bergey (fiction editor) drunk on the lawn for his 30th birthday.

If you'd like one of these, that can be arranged.

We'd like to hear your opinion too, ghost or cheerleaders? Comments would be appreciated.

I like the subtleness of the cheerleaders more than the ghost.

Pigeon wins, though.

I vote for the bathroom ghost, but that's just because I saw the damn thing at least once and Sarah captured him with eerie accuracy. I don't think I mentioned it in the essay, but Stanley (that was the ghost's name) did indeed have a fondness for bowler hats. Or at least that's what I was told. (I was too much of a puss to find out for myself.)

How the hell did Sarah know that? Did a certain poltergeist from Northern California visit her and whisper suggestions into her ear?

I just gave myself the heebie-jeebies.
